I heard that the A+ expires after 2 years but went wandering around the CompTia site and was not able to find anything on that subject...

Anyone know if they expire or not? CJ

I thought they all expire, but the do in the sence you can still call yoursel an mcse, or cna etc. thats what i heard. its like they dont expire, but after say 2 years they redo the test, so you may want to take it again to stay current, but you dont really have to. its all weird im not 100% sure

Well, that doesn't really answer the question... Of course you skill set can "expire" and the CNA does expire after 2 years, but what I want to know is, After you pass the A+ test you get a number from CompTia that proves you are certified, does after 2 years (or 3 years) that number become invalid because the test results expire and you have to take another set of tests to be considered A+.

Most anyone can pass the A+ in there sleep but why should I toss out $270.00 on a test that proves almost nothing at my level if it is going to expire in 2 years and I have to fork out another $270.00. CJ

im not saying you should for out 270 to take the test again, most people i konw that are a+ or mcse or anything like that only take the test once, because there is no point to taking it again unless it takes a huge overhall and is totally different. take it once and know you have it, and get on the job experience.

Got my answer... the test results do not expire... I had been told at one time that they did, just wanted to make sure before I tossed out any money on it.

Do you think the test will be hard with 7 years of experence? heh... rhetorical question... CJ

ok got it, the test itself expires when they put out a new version, but your cert doesn not, cool, thanks i was actually looking into that also,

no the test shou...... darn nerver mind

I doubt any employer would bother to check the current status of an A+ Cert.

But with a Microsoft Cert, say an MCSE, then its a different story. I have to say, its a lot of effort to get/pass all those exams, Im gonna guess you wouldnt bother redoing those exams, until a couple of OS versions have passed before you. I like the fact that they say Win2000 will stay current with .NET/XP, I just dont fully trust them to stick to this policy either.
