I have some PhotoShop EPS files but I don't have PhotoShop. What possible applications (free/shareware if possible) are out there to simply view and export these files to jpg or bmp format. The graphics products I have available currently are Freehand 9 and Fireworks 4.

Thanks

Hi,

Fireworks opens a photoshop eps.

hope this helps

Thanks that's useful. What I'm slightly confused about is this...The actual file I work with is a Freehand file with the EPS files linked into a 'template'.

When I open the EPS files on there own, that's fine, but when I open the Freehand file in Fireworks I can not see the linked images. I am I expecting too much?

Thanks

You won't see linked files, only embedded ones. Freehand does the links and so knows what to look for when you open the doc, but Fireworks or PS are not designed to have all the accessibility built into Freehand. Since the EPS are external to the Freehand file, PS and FW only look atthe actual file's contents and cannot 'see' the linked stuff. When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.

If the file opens ok in Freehand, you can export it (File > Export...) into a wide range of file formats. I'm not sure what options are available in FH9 (I'm using FH10), but I can certainly export to BMP and JPG directly from Freehand.

I use both MAC and Windows. I have Photoshop on my MAC. Is there anyway to convert Photoshop files to Windows. Some sort of software that converts image files. Thanks

Hi monimeow,

If you put the extension after the photoshop file (*.psd, *.tif,...) window apps will recognize the file format and will place or open it, there is no conversion needed.

hope this helps
