Hi
I've been using a sun ultra 10(333, 512mb,creater 3d) machine for a couple of weeks. However i'm disappointed by the general performace compared to a pc of the same cpu speed and spec.

Things seem to drag on. For example i do a lot of java development. On the ultra 10 its a nightmare. Things become slow.

Would using scsi harddrive improve the performace noticablly.

Any advice would be of great use. thks

Java is a great tool, but very slow.
Maybe you can upgrade the runtime to get better performance.
I doubt java code runs faster on a MS-intel box since java is developped by Sun on Solaris.
Check your Solaris config. Too bad I.T. is not cash business
