It seems as though there is no development happening in Paradox. The new WordPerfect Suite has the same version, and Corel doesn't seem to have much information. Does anyone?
This is a question that's been asked many times over the past ten years or so.
The way I see it, Paradox still has a future as long as people keep using it. After all, there are a lot of machines still using Windows 95 as their OS.
If we want to see anything change, then I suggest write nicely written letters to Corel, Vector Capital, and so on.
Even if those parties don't want to pursue active development, perhaps we can get them to open-source both Paradox and BDE. That way, if the community wants changes, the community can make them.
I thought the biggest issue was Borland saying they would no longer update the BDE? I've been lead to believe that this has the potential of creating problems with future operating systems. Far more than Paradox itself.
So maybe a letter writing campaign should begin with Borland. Could open sourcing the BDE allow "the community" to update it as required? And would "the community" do it?
I'm definitely into things I don't understand here. But I did just purchase Corel Office Professional 11, just to signal another person interested in the fate of Paradox.
