DOES OPEN VMS V 7-2.1 SUPPORT IDE DEVICES?

HELLO,

i am wondering if open vms v 7-2.1 supports ide devices ie. a cd-rom? Im in a crunch.. any advice will be very very welcome. Ty

Hi Steve,

Yes, 7.2-1 does support IDE devices... as far as I am aware, all versions of the o/s have IDE support...

Not completely true, but if you mean "from 7.0 on" you're correct. Newer versions may even be able to read (*and write) some IDE-disks. (DS10 does)
Beware however that support of CD-ROM (and disk) may depend on firmaware version (you should have the latest) and CD-ROM type. Not all CD-ROMS are supported!
Also, since IDE has very limited intelligence, usage claims quite some CPU power, certainly compared to SCSI.
