does one color affect other colors around it?

sorry about the weird title, but I couldn't think of a better one? if you go to and select any location from the drop down list, look at the print and close buttons on the popup. The orange area on the print button looks darker than the one on the close button. why is this as I used the same color for both (#dd5a1f). is it because there is more black (ie the little page) on this area of the print button than of the close button? and if so, how can I get around this?
 
You should really save those images as .GIFs rather than JPEGs, as it will display those particular colors much clearer. The orange on the print button is being muddied by the black, even if the original file was crystal clear, due to the way JPEG compression works.
 
Oh, and when I say save as GIF, I mean save a clean, original file as a GIF. Don't just resave what's on your site or you will have the same problem!
