Hello. Norton Antivirus does not want to scan certain directories. I did not create these directories and they propogated by themselves.

I try to lead the Antivirus program to the directories but I just gives me an error message that a critical error has occured. Yet it will scan all other hard drives (I have 3) and say there is no virus.

Yet these folders and files took up my remaining space of a 80 GB harddrive. (no bad sites whatsoever) and I have the latest dat's. What is going on???

sounds like you got hacked...and either they are using some sort of logging file that keeps growing or a batch file that keeps creating directories...try to delete the directories and see if they come back

Howdy:

What operating system and what directories?? If you are referring to system, user.dat, etc. then that is to be expected..

And, contrary to what else was said, DO NOT just dump a directory/folder until you know what it is and what it is used for !! Anything else is plain stupidity !!
