does not boot on graphics console

hi everyone,
Need your help.
We have a unix machine HP c3700 and now it does not boot on the graphical console..
The LCD monitor displays:

Firmware 1.7
Console is on Ser_1

We booted it using the serial connection and change the monitor settings at the boot console menu to the desired monitor type and rebooted the machine. Still it will boot through the serial connection and not on Graphical mode.

How do we resolve this? Need all your expertise...thanks
