I would like to gather stats of which files are being used and who is using them. Can NetWare give me
that kind of information? I am not the superuser, only a user, but a member of my team is the owner
of the folder in the share. The files are Crystal Reports, so I want to know which are used most often.
Also, a basic NetWare question. How do I determine the version of NetWare we are using?
Thanks,
-Brent

Question 1. Yes, but your'll need the help of your sys admin who more than likely will deny your request. Logging access info takes up resources, and unless it is REALLY important, you don't want to do it (would be okay on if you had a very powerfull server, like quad CPU, and gigs of RAM). There are third party programs that will do the same thing, only you need to keep the workstation running and tell it what files to watch. Check out the program WhoHasIt from , I don't see logging info in this one though, but it does tell you who has what open. You can also look for a tool on
Question 2. Type VERSION at the server console, if you don't have access to the server console, ask your sys admin (and be sure to tell him why you need to know).

Provogeek,
So when the sys admin loads the resource hog of an audit module, can it then focus on one folder, or does it log all activity on the system and you have to filter for your folder?

Thanks for the links to tools and info on version.

P.S.: The url string to your web site is broken.
