After 10+ years of getting my legend/magix answers from you guys with the search feature, I'm finally stuck.

I finally talked my boss into ditching most of our (25) pots lines for 12 channel PRI
I'm building a new(er) magix 4.0 with Merlin Messaging 4.0 system to replace our Legend 7.0 with MLM007
thanks to you guys the PRI came up with out a hitch, but after I scored the Merlin Messaging off ebay, I got greedy
I'd like to use the Unified Messaging Application.
What I Would like to know if the MERLIN Messaging 4.0 Unified Messaging Application can be installed in windows XP, or am I going to have to track down one of the following
— Microsoft Windows® 2000 Server, Service Pack 1
— Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional, Service Pack 1
— Microsoft Windows NT® 4.0 Server, Service Pack 5
— Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Workstation, Service Pack 5

I've been trying to install it in one of my XP virtual machines, but it keeps failing with the following
Unified Messaging Application Service installation encountered problems. The account information may be incorrect. Exiting the instalation. You must un-install and reinstall with accurate information.

as per the readme, the vm isn't part of a domain so I use the machine name in the domain field
I created a new user (& password) with administrator rights.
but it keeps failing.

Is there anybody out there who was able to get it installed on xp, or am I going to have to dig up a copy of 2000 :-/

After branching out to the partner forum, I saw that XP appears to work, I was able to install it on a windows Server 2003 R2 Virtual machine that was part of a domain (wrong subnet so I can't use it), but when I tried on a copy of the same Server 2003 R2 that wasn't a domain member, it fails with the same error.

after playing around (and re-reading documents)
[Domain name]
machine name(less suffix)

[Account Name]
administrative user (just name)

[Password]
administrative user's password

gets it installed.
Now I have a [Unified Messaging Application] line on my Merlin Messaging screen
add email server (SMTP)
check off unity with email on test mailbox
click [settings]
choose server (only one)
add email user name
leave message for test user

but EasyMail smtp express (online is checked) continues to show
0 Connections
0 Messages waiting to be
0 Total Successful Messages
0 Total Failed Messages

Under the notifications tab both "Copy to Failed Directory" & "Enable Logging" are checked

I guess you call it baby steps :-/
