Hi,

I have been delegated the new job of backup admin. My first task is to find out if Legato deletes the Exchange IS transaction logs (edb*.log) when it backs up the server. Microsoft's NT backup system does this but it does not appear that legato is doing this. Is there a setting that needs to be turned on to do this? We are running Networker 5.5.2 with the Exchange module.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

yes, it does as long as you do a full backup. Incrementals do not.

Both Incrementals and Fulls truncates the logs, as long as you're not using circular loggin. Diff and copy backups doesn't.

In order for you to safely backup exchange, Networker Buisness suite module for Exchange should be installed. This allows for hot backups of the DB's and takes care of removing the correct log files.

Thank You all for your responses. You are correct, it does delete the transaction logs, when the client is working properly. I have fixed the problem with the client on the exchange server. Thanks again.
