Hello,

Is there a website that lists all the existing discussion forums on the internet?
If it exists, I can't find it usually because of to many results displayed. I've used the following keywords:
search list all forums database

Thanks!

I doubt it, who would profit from such a site?

I mean there is always that possibility, and if thre is, i'm sure one of these guys will find it for you.

Just not that I have seen.

I found this on my search:

Name matches your criteria, but the content is not even close.

Well, such a website would probably become quite famous don't you think so? Which means potential advertisers.

There are portals for everything. Why not one for forums?

But it my opinion, it should already exist...?!

Thanks for the message.

...the lost portal...i have only heard of it.....bits.......and......pieces!

Why don't you make one and I will gladly support it and advertise it on my site when i finish that.

Hello Deecee!

Well ... I wouldn't want to waste my time designing such a website if it already exists! :)

More precisely, what I'm looking for is a website that lists all the most crowded discussion forums on every subjects.

I don't believe one of the big guys never thought about creating such a website.

have a nice day!

If you can't find it perhaps it is a sign that one is needed, if there already is one you should be able to find it.

Secondly, perhaps there isn't any because it likely to be a damn difficult task. forums come and go pretty rapidly, almost on a daily basis forums start up and shut down.

Rather you than me, and would anyone use such a site??

Hello Cian!

You wrote: "if there already is one you should be able to find it."
The problem is that it's a little bit tricky to find keywords that match such a criteria.

Perhaps you only participate in computer related forums which isn't my case, but don't you think it would be nice to have a website that would help you to find crowded forums about any subject easily?

For example, I'm currently struggling at finding a forum targeted to the scientists worldwide. I can't simply find even one forum! There are the Google groups, but there is no feedback in there.

I know by experience that it's difficult for forums owners to advertise their forums. With this system, they would just need to submit their forum on the "portal" which is better than doing nothing.

Didn't mean to come off like I was putting down your idea :)
Maybe people might use such a site, just not sure if I would.
Tek-tips is only 1 type of forum I participate in, there are at least 5 more which have nothing to do with computers or the internet so the last thing I need is to find more forums LOL LOL

To Gwar2k1:

Your idea is the first thing I thought about and I assure you that it brought me nowhere. It looks like scientists use forums that are closed to the public or perhaps they don't use forums at all!
I know someone who works in a lab, and she didn't know either.
Quite weird :)

is full of URLs of magazines and organizations, but still: dead end.

Code:
(|)(|)[\code]
[code]<=~x~>[\code]" [URL unfurl="true"]http://www.humandesigner.com[/URL] & [URL unfurl="true"]http://www.helpbooster.com[/URL] "

> Is there a website that lists all the existing discussion forums on the internet?

If you go here:

You'll find 50 companies willing to host discussion forums on any subject, generally for free. You'll also find links to over 100 scripts to host a forum on your own server. Neither list is extensive.

With so much availability, there must be a huge number of forums out there - and probably dozens being added every day. Cataloguing them all would be a task akin to that outlined in thread253-514472 . I doubt whether anyone would really want to take this task on, if you do GOOD LUCK!

I think you'd be better searching for the subjects you want to discuss, both in search engines and portals. Google indexes a lot of forum entries, for example:

I'd expect Science portals to include links to popular forums, if there are any. "Scientists worldwide" covers a lot of ground, most active forums are likely to be a lot more specialised.
