Does IPhone require OWA?

I've got an iPhone that I'd like to connect to my Exchange 2003 server for mail.

Due to a series of errors I've killed OWA on this server but I was able to create an IMAP server and I've enabled IMAP through my firewall.

Still can't connect though. Does the iPhone require OWA?

No. It uses Exchange Active Sync.
