When I converted a Quark document into InDesign, some if not most of the imported Excel text was lost in the InDesign document. I then reopened the Quark document and resaved the Excel files. When I replace these files, will I need to keep the originals, I'm afraid they won't be stable and I'll lose them again. Am I just being paranoid?!

When you Place the Excel into Indesign, it embeds. If you don't want that, go to Preferences/Text and check the box to leave text and spreadsheet files as links.

When placing Excel or Word docs, make sure you click on the options button in the Place window. That gives you various other choices about the imported doc.

Using OSX 10.3.9 on a G4
