I am wondering if the EMC control center software requires any additional software components to be installed on the service processor? As there are many different modules that can be added on as part of ECC I am curious to now which ones may require additional software to be installed on the Symmterix Service Processor. I am also interested in knowing if any changes need to be made to my symmetrix configuration or if the Service Processor needs to be attached for any of this software to run. Originally I was told that Symm Optimizer was the only module that required the Service Processor. Does anybody know where I might find a chart or document with this info? I tried powerlink but found nothing. If anybody knows the exact location of this information that would also be helpful. Thank you

nope, you don't need to install anything in the service processor. ECC gathers all information using the agents installed on each server connected to the Symmetrix.

All you need is to have gatekeepers configured in the symmetrix and attached to the servers who going to make the changes.

Take a look to the ECC documentation and see the topology.

Cheers.
