Does Definity recognizes "&" for the purpose of call transfer?

We r writing an Auto Dialer that wud be working with Definity exchange and D300PCI-E1 card. We are successful in making outgoing and recvng incoming calls BUT we cud not transfer a call to an internal extension. As soon as "&" character is encountered, line goes dead.

Any suggestions?
