Hello, we are running SQL 2000 where Log Shipping is setup on one database.

Will running DBCC SHRINKDATABASE affect this? I say no but others think it will.

Log shipping is still new to me and I even after reading information from several sources I am not sure of all the tricks in running it.

Thanks for any help,
djj

What do you mean will it effect it?

Will the shrink command be transmitted to the receiving SQL Server? Yes.

Will the shrink command break log shipping? No

Will the shrink command generate large log files which have to be moved to the receiving SQL Server? Possibly. If a lot of data needs to be moved from the end of the file to the middle before the end of the file can be released then yes. If not then no.

If these don't answer your question please be more specific.
