What is the difference between DB2 and As400/Iseries?

Are they the same thing?

Dazed and confused

Skittle,

DB2 is IBM's relational data base management system. DB2 is integrated into the OS/400 now known as i5/OS operating system. In other lives, DB2 is an add-on or stand alone product. Versions are available for Mainframes, AIX, and Windows systems.
