Hi
I want to print text on a background image (of a form).
Do I have to have IE property "Print background colors
and images" enabled to do this or does the css background
property override this ?
At the moment if the property is not set in IE then
the image prints on the first page and the text on the
next, if it's set then the image and text print on the
same page as they should.
The problem is the users don't have access to the IE
settings as company policy.
Thanks for any help.

No, you cannot set client's computer settings with css. You will simply have to find a different solution for printing. You can have an actual image in an absolutely positioned div that has the normal content superimposed over it. That said, majority of people prefer if they don't get their background images printed.

True, but I have experience situtations (such as printing a DRAFT of a letter and needing the word DRAFT to appear as a watermark) where forcing the printing of a background image in spite of the user's printer settings is a necessity.

(For best results: hand wash in cold, tumble dry low. For not so good results: drag through puddles, pound on rocks, air dry on tree branch.)

For important precision printing use pdf rather than html. It was designed for printing unlike html, which was designed for web presentation.
