Does CNG work on small VM Cards? I set up group call 8 for ext. the fax is on. I also sent the main greating on auto attendent with a lenght of 8 sec. or and it still doesn't work. I have a R6 and a small pc card type.
THANKS!

From your description it does not seem like you read the Partner ACS Installation & Use document section on Fax Machines.

If you don't have it, all documents can be downloaded for free from support.avaya.com, it covers all the steps to do a proper set up for faxes. The feature is supported on all ACS starting with R3.0 to present.

Again...Does CNG work on small VM Cards? Yes or No.
Thanks. This forum is to help people understand and repair problems. Not to tell someone "read the Partner ACS Installation & Use document".

SYQUEST: do you mean RTFM??
not a lot of people do that still, damn must be Monday today.

So, when you do RTFM, here's what you find:

When an incoming call is answered by PVM, PMVS, PARTNER MAIL, or ASA/DXD, the system
determines if the incoming call is a fax. If the system is set up to automatically route incoming fax
calls to fax machine(s), it automatically transfers the call to Hunt Group 8.

Take a look at page 338 of 466 in the pdf.

READING THE DOCUMENTATION IS PART OF THE PROCESS FOR UNDERSTANDING AND REPAIRING!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, RTFM is how to learn. Not reading the manual, and relying on forums is how to get a wrong answer, as posted above.

** Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life. **

Again...Does CNG work on small VM Cards? Yes or No.
Is simply my question. I'm not asking for you to program my CFG for me, I know what it does. No need to fire back just answer my question... Partner messaging PC card release 3 Its the one that looks like a credit card. If you don't have the answer then don't write.

Again it shows you do not want to learn
TTT
told you you what you wanted to hear & how to do it

When an incoming call is answered by PVM, PMVS, PARTNER MAIL, or ASA/DXD, the system

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

Sorry for the incorrect information VoiceNetTelecom- I was trying to stop something before it got out of control and I failed.

O.K so This "PVM" card does support that CNG. Sorry for the mix up I know the partner has many different VM and some seem to be called the same. This is the VM card I have. Its funny to me how the skinny VM manual which I read has no mention of this and cannot program through Admin.

I did read the Partner book and program #505 hunt group 8 to ext.17 (which is where the fax it on)and set up auto attendent for a very long greating and the fax still did not transfer??? I can call ex 17 and the fax will pickup.
Not sure whats wrong?? can anyone help me in trouble shooting this? Thanks Again

Never mind I think I solved the problem. Some how the fax ext. was set up as a door phone 1. I have to remove that to see if that fixes it. I'll be on the job tomorrow. Thanks.

Just a quickie listing of the (4) Avaya/Lucent/AT&T voicemail systems that were made for the Partner platform.

Partner Mail (stand alone computer voicemail)
Partner Voice Messaging (PCMCIA card)
Partner Mail VS (modular voicemail)
Avaya Partner Messaging (replacement for the Partner Mail VS)

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

Ok I've made it work. Some how the fax ext. was set up as a door phone 1. Once I cleared that it work like a charm.

Does CNG work on small VM Cards? YES with out a doubt. Thats the answer I was looking for.

NOT..

-No

Thanks to Deman and Touchtonetommy.

I guess next time you ask a question you get the same answer if it is obvious that you want us to babysit you to do your job.
I also suggest reading the posts twice before you reply and mayby it will sink in that the answer you are looking for is actually right there.
TTT posted even the wording from the manual and if you are not able to understand it then it is nobodies fault but your own.
We have to deal full time with customers that are not able to understand this but that is our business because THEY are paying us to help them. SO be less arrogant and ignorant and RTFM a bit.
btw CNG detection is done by the phone system not by the voicemail so that will hopefully help for next time.
