does ATA provide MWI?

System is MICS 6.0 s/w flash 2.1
Am using ATA-2's,
according to IG under terms & Sets->Capabilities->ata settings: you can set the ATA to provide either a light or tone message indicator.
I couldn't find this in the ATA IG.

Is this a case where the programmers actually mean the ASM and called it ATA?

If not does any other programming need to be done other than re: above?

Well it's and ASM module with 8 ATA's in it technicaly.
Only the ASM module has the MSG Waiting feature to my knowledge.
