We have the following SMS primary site specs:

1. SMS 2.0 primary site w/ SP4
2. SQL 2000 w/ SP2
3. 2 Gig RAM
4. Central Site for around 2000+ clients and 13 child sites.

I am using Spotlight for SQLservers and it is showing that the SQL memory usage of this server is at 80% of capacity. It is currently using 1.6GB RAM for SQL. And Windows is constantly paging at 30-70 pages/sec.

Is there a way we can control the SQL maximum memory usage? Or is there a way we can keep the Windows paging level down? This paging level worries me.

Any info would be appreciated.

Not sure if this applies to SQL 2000 but
I know in SQL7 if you launch the Enterprise manager and go to the properties of the server group, you can specify whether or not you want SQL to allocate memory as required because if you do, SQL will eventually consume all your memory. SQL maximum memory should be set to (your max physical memory minus 128 to 256MB).
Hope this help.

Firm.
