I was just wondering if anyone knew how to add a brush color just so it only fills up the text, just like using layers like multiply in photoshop. But I want to do it in illustrator. I have a brush with a good texture, that I want only the text to receive, nothing else.

Thanks

...not 100% sure i understand your goal here...

...if you have an image link sample you can post this would help.

...a clipping mask will allow you to isolate the brush within the text but unsure if this is the desired effect your looking for...

...blend modes are found in the transparency palette in illustrator if that helps.

Yes, I do want to isolate the brush color and pattern within the text.

...also note that you can keep text in illustrator as "editable" text and still use it as a clipping mask or opacity mask.

...you don't have to convert the text to outlines to make as mask from text, it can still be type ready and editable text.
