Does AIX 4.3.3 support the addition of a new disk to an existing raid 5 array. How can l do that? l upgraded the maintenance level but when l go to the smit menu to add the disk to the raid array, the disk can not be seen.

I don't think AIX can do it on the fly.
You will need to backup the VG, recreate the array including the new disk and then restore the data.
AIX stripes across all disks in a raid 5 array (unlike OS400) and the controller is not smart enough to move the data stripes on the fly (like the X series machines) so the only way to extend the array involves restripeing all the disks.
