Does a smart update on BCM50 require down time?

I have a BCM50 rel. 5. I need to install the smart update(BCM50.R500.SU.System-103.201111-1). will this take down/reboot the system? any idea on how long it takes to install?

just trying to see when is best to schedule it

The su system update reboots the system.
Read the read me file in the update for reboots and install time.

Usually 20 mins total

Ditto...the readme file will tell you if a re-boot is required.

Usually all system updates require a reboot, which you can schedule to happen out of hours. Desktop updates don't need a reboot. However, as stated above it's best to read the readme notes first.
