Sorry for the weird subject, I couldn't think of anything else. Just a couple of minutes ago someone tried to send connect to one of our phones from a fax machine. I'm wondering if there is a partcular type of vulnerability with this. The reason I ask if there is a vulnerability with this is because a) the number that was called was a private number, only a small number of people within our organization even know about the number existing and b) we can't trace the number that attempted to call any farther than the state that the call was made from. I guess it could have been an error on the sender's part, but none of our fax numbers are close to that number. Yeah, I'm probably overreacting, but I just want to be sure.

Its probably just some idiot who's war dialing

basically their fax machines just keep dialing until they find a fax machine to spam you with..

The idiot may in fact not be an IDIOT at all.

Dpendz.

IP phones use VERY LITTLE bandwidth. FAX machines hog up the bandwidth in their compression techniques.

Warning is ?

There are idiots, idiot dialers, and then those that like to play. Dependz upon your IP system ~ platform.
