does a nortel 450-24t support rstp?

Hi,
does anyone know if nortel baystack 450-24t ethernet switches support rapid spanning tree? Or is it just a cisco protocol?

Hi

My understanding is that the Baystack switches do not support RSTP in the Cisco way. They do have (their own) fast learning setting for the individual ports. This is the same as standard STP, with a reduced transition time.

RSTP is a standard, 802.1w (

and the 450 does not support this protocol. 802.1w is supported in new models in the same product family, i.e. 470 family. The 450 does support 'fast start' on a per port basis - look at manula for deatils.
