In today's job economy, I am bracing for potential layoffs or outsourcing at my company. What are the ethics or legal implications of documenting your work at your current job so that you can have samples of your work to provide in a resume or portfolio format?

Of course I won't be providing source code samples or anything like that. It will mainly consist of screenshots of my graphic design and UI work, plus excerpts from some of the design documentation I created. A lot of my work is visually oriented. I plan on obscuring specific or identifiable pieces of information, and I don't plan on giving this to anybody until I research the ethics of the matter, hence this post.

Any thoughts are appreciated. Also, please point me to an appropriate thread if this has been discussed before.

Thanks
