Recently (the last 2 weeks), I have not been able to open word documents.

We have word 2000. When a document is emailed from one
employee to another I get the following error:
"The Document name or path is not valid. Try theses
suggestions.
* Check the File Permissions for the document or drive.
*Use the File OPen dialog box to locate the document."

Now, I have done both of the above, No go (both do not
work).
I can open the document in Notpad but, most of it is ASCII.
This is just an ordinary word document. There is nothing
special about it. This is happening with ALL word docs
that are emailed internal and from clients.
Thank you in advance.

Hi,

One thing you can do is save the file to your hard drive and then open it as you normally would. That is, instead of double-clicking to open it, right-click on it and select "Save As" from the menu. Save it wherever you want on your hard drive and then go and open it as you normally would.

Hope that works for you.

Check with your System Administrator - sounds like a setting in your email client or firewall that won't allow .doc file extensions.

There's always a better way. The fun is trying to find it!
