Document Library Template

Is there a way to create a template for a document library--I've created a document library and customized it quite a bit and would like to use it as a template when creating a new document library. I'm using SharePoint 2003 and as much as I hate to admit it, am fairly new to it.

I stumbled on the solution to this--navigate into the document library you want to use as a template and click on "Modify Settings and Columns" and then on "Save this Document Library as a Template". For as easy as it was, I sure couldn't find any documentation on it.
