Hi

I'm using WSS. When I click on the Edit menu of a document I am offered a 'Discus' option. When I click this for a PDF I am able to use the Discus functions (i.e. the two little yellow postit icons and the bottom of the doc page) however when I click this for a Word document the Discus "postits" do not appear. I am using Word 2000.

1. Any idea why the Discus option doesn't work when I have a Word doc open?
2. On other workspaces when I click the edit menu only View, Edit and Edit series appear as options - discus and checkin/out don't appear. Any idea why this happens?

Thanks for your help.

Discussion links are built into Office 2K3 apps. IOW when you edit a Word doc from a document library, the task pane will open in Word and provide links to the members who have access to the doc. SP provides the Discuss link in the doc library dropdown for docs/apps like Acrobat that don't provide the workspace functionality.

Or something like that.

Hi

I am using Windows 2000 OS and Work 2000. For users who have not got Office 2003 are there any discus options for Word docs?

Thanks

Hello,

If you are using Office 2000 you have VERY limited integration with sharepoint, the minimum req. listed by MS is atleast to use Office XP, that will provide you with most functions sharepoint has to offer.

The ultimate is to use Office 2003 then you will have all the functionality sharepoint has to offer.

Regards,
Thomas
