document a website

I have to document a website in its full detail. I have not developed the website yet. I first want to have document which decribes the website to its fullest (links, flows, et al).
Can someone provide links/ tutorials which kinda explains the steps, rules to document a website. A sample document would be most helpful.

this is what I learned in college!
Not saying the order would be completely accurate in all situations though

1. Register your domain name.

2. Define the purpose and goals

3. Design your site to the targeted audience

4. Select A suitable Host for present and future needs

5. Promote your site (search engines, local listings etc..)




I may not get it the 1st or 2nd time,
