Hi. I'm a relative newbie to SPS2003. Done some simple stuff but nothing complicated or integrated. I am creating an SPS site for my company and have an applications folder on the top tool bar which points to a subsite/listing on which i have placed a document library web part. I can link the listings to the network folders but when i click on the folder link the window goes to the network folder in windows explorer and SPS web site is gone. Anyone know how to resolve this and can give me step by steps? I just started it so i can start from scratch if needs be.

The folder is not located in sharepoint but on a network drive. (I assuming). Therefore sharepoint just will link the user to the folder. If you want the items listed in a document libary create a new libary in sharepoint and open it in exployer view. Open the network folder and copy the contents as you would from on folder to another folder. Since the libary is in sharepoint it will list the items in a sharepoint list instead of exployer view.

Hope this helps

Correct, the folder is on a network drive not in sharepoint. How do i set it up so there is a link to the folder? Also with the link to the folder, how to i make sure the folders contents are viewed as a part of the sps page instead of when clicking on the link having sps go away and only the folder as viewed by windows explorer appear. Please elaborate and thank you for replying! it's much appreciated as i cannot seem to find much help on this topic.

Try this

Create a New Document Libary.
For Document Template Choose --Basic Page.
Once it is create click new document.
Name it and choose Full Page, Vertical
Add the web part "Page Viewer web part"
Modify your shared web part
Click folder and copy the folder address into the "Link"
Make any other changes you want.

Now you can create listings any other place you want.
Realize that the users will the folder permissions to the files not sharepoint permissions. Also they get a little anoying message about opening the files and right clicking. Have not figured out yet how to get rid of it.

Hope this is what you wanted.

Hi thank you for the response. I understand some of it but get fuzzy when it comes to the Document Template choose basic. I don't really have a choice. i can edgo to Customize Document Library then click on a link for Document template called Edit Template which opens word. Please elaborate that part. Otherwise it makes sense, i just cannot find the choose basic page. Let me know! thanks a bunch!
