Hi guys,
I saw in this thread that the DOC is an optional part of the Doorphone.
Is that my only option for a "buzzer" to let people in the door?
We currently have a locked door with a regular 2008 mounted on the wall outside the department in the hallway. People call whoever they want inside the department and they get up and go let the person in. Naturally, folks are getting tired of getting up to let people in (though some of us could use the exercise but that's another story). So ideally we want everyone inside the department to have the ability to let people in the door by dialing a number on their phones.
Do I have to have the doorphone in order to operate the opener? How does it hook up to my switch? Do I need to run new lines or would I be able to run something off the phone that's there? Does the DOC/Doorphone package include the door latch hardware or is that something extra? Where exactly does the phone system interface with the door latch?
We will probably have our facilities department contract out for installation but I bet they will ask me what we need and I'm hoping to have actual answers instead of a blank, stupid look. (I know they are already looking for a solution and I just want to be as prepared as I can be if the ask me anything).
thanks!
