Hi guys,

Please have a look here :

Personally, I believe that, once it becomes totally available, developers will jump on this new technology.

But in my opinion, the market size will be quite limited for this kind of applications because, practically speaking, I doubt that normal users will want to install many programs on their computer when they can simply use their browser as they've always done until now.

So I think it will remain a niche market and that web designers won't really need to learn how to use it.

What's your opinion?

My initial thought was "yay, cool!" but when I thought about it a bit more I was struck by "why?".

A few years back this would have been very neat but now, with so many people wired and online all the time, why do you need to run an application on your desktop?

It could be useful for some instances but the demo video I watched just made me think that you could do the same thing with a 'conventional' webpage and some Ajax. OK so the guy unplugged from the network and made his ebay sale page offline. But he can't do anything with it until he goes back online anyway. So what was the point?

The whole thing only becomes useful if the user needs to do stuff offline that later needs synch with something online. But do we need a whole new technology to do this?

It seems to me that Adobe/Macromedia have just invented a market to sell more of their product... mainly Flex.

Just looks like a cross-browser version of the ActiveX idea that IE has to me. I can't see it becoming all that appealing to users.
