I am very new to Authorware developer and I have been asked to create a course that uses bookmarking. Before I begin looking into this, I was wondering if bookmarking required the use of a database.

Thanks for any help you can give

You don't need a datbase persay. You can use text files instead of a database to do bookmarking type things.

You can actually use some of Authorware's built in functionality as well. For example, if you the program to pick up where it left off in framework, you can set the program to resume rather than restart in the Modify/File Properties menu item, then put SaveRecords() before your quit button, and the program will pick up where the user left off when they relaunch it.
