Do we really need RPC service

i have tried stop and disable the /etc/S71rpc from my Solaris, and i'm able to backup/restore. Just curious, as i got feedback that rpc service is must for Networker.

Probably. I have never tested that but i have seen messages
that NW can also try to establish a remote shell connection.
