Do we have a choice?

Hello:

I am a recent college graduate trying to work my way up the System Administration ladder. I work as technical support(and have worked so for the last 1.5 years) with mainly Red Hat Unix systems customized for web hosting purposes. I am fairly comfortable using them and would call myself and advanced user if not an expert.

However, I wish to enhance my System Administration skills in Unix. I am looking for a certification which will let me do that. Money is definitely a thing to think about for me and I do not want to spend too much on the certification. Which kind of Unix Certification would be good for me? Do we even have any choices? I want to be able to buy the material (books etc) without spending a load of money either. Please let me know.

Becoming a system admin is something that takes time (I've been in the industry for 21 years). It took me about 8-10 years worth of work to get to the point where I could call myself a 'system admin'.

The position of system admin isn't very high and mighty, due to the fact if the system admin is doing his or her job properly, you will have very few users to deal with (or none at all).

You need not buy any solaris books.You can get free downloadble solaris9,the latest doc at

web site.
Also you can find and purchse numerous solaris certification practice tests/questions at e -bay auction site.No material is costlier and no more expense for getting
solaris certification except fees...
