In my detail section of my report I have Ins_Name. In the footer I have a text box =Count([Ins_Name]).

How do I change this formula so if the same insured is listed multiple times, it only counts it one time?

Is your report grouped by Ins_name? If so, add a text box in the group header:
Name: txtCountIns
Control Source: =1
Running Sum: Over All
Visible: No
Then add a text box to the Report Footer section:
Control Source: =txtCountIns

Hi. No my report is not grouped by Ins_Name. It is grouped by Category first, then it lists the Ins_Name in alpha order within that Category.

The Ins_Name is listed multiple times because they may have multiple claims within that Category. I want to show them on the report each time but when I total up the Categories, I only want to count them one time.

Can an Ins_Name be under multiple categories?
Do you want a count of unique Ins_Names the category footer or in the report footer?

Hi there. Yes, an Ins_Name can be in multiple categories. I would like to count the unique names per category only in the category footer.

Add an Ins_Name group header section and add a text box in the group header:
Name: txtCountIns
Control Source: =1
Running Sum: Over All
Visible: No
Then add a text box to the Category Footer section:
Control Source: =txtCountIns
