Do no get bounce backs for unknown users

When sending mail to my sendmail box from external I do not get bounce backs to indicate the user does not exist

Is a message going to postmaster? Postmaster is a virtual user which gets its mail sent to root. Your maillog should tell you what is happening to this mail.
