Do mini DV drives exist?

I'm talking about an IDE drive you would pop into a 5 1/4" bay in your computer. Then, instead of having to sync your DV camcorder to the computer, you would just put the tape into the drive. Do they make drives like this? They should-- It would save wear and tear on your camcorder, as well as frustration trying to get your camcorder to sync right.
