i am not sure if that even describes it corretly...

i have created an excel spreadsheet using very basic VB that i was able to pick up from a help page. the problem is that when anyone else opens this same file on thier PC their formatting is competely different... the C column is 1 1/2 times the size it should be - the fonts are bigger... this would not be a big issue except that once the person is done filling out the form they need to print it out and distribute it; and it needs to fit on one complete sheet...

i know there is the option to make it fit, but that makes some of the print too small to read. i have it formatted nicely ... the print is big enough and such - and it still fits on one sheet... but how do i make it stay that way when it is opened from another PC?

i have a general understanding of macros, and have only begun to teach myself visual basic, but if someone can give me some concise suggestions, i am sure i can make it work...

thanks!

as far as how big you can make it the program appear i know that does not matter... i will have to check their actual resolutions when i come back to work on Thursday... thanks for the idea!

i'll let you know if that is the problem...

hi cmpgeek,

I am guessing, 'cuz you really did not include ALL relevant info, that you are formatting only a portion of what needs to be formatted in order to conform to your5 print requirements.

Here's what I would suggest.

first, open Format/Cells and change something on EACH TAB.

Then, record a new macro where you open Format/Cells and change each value in EACH TAB back to its intended value.

AND make sure the row heights and column widths are ok.

there are only 2 "requirements" for printing this form:
1 - that the font is big enough to read
2 - that the info fits on one sheet of paper

my question was not about what needed to be formatted. The file and its formatting are fine and it prints fine - from my machine... I was asking why the formatting was changing when the file was opened on another machine, and if there was a way to stop it.

if i left out any relevant information, i assure you it was because i did not know it was relevant to the problem at hand... i would never intentionally waste anyone's time (including my own) by sharing only part of the information needed to solve the issue...

thank you both for your suggestions

yes. whenever i am creating a file that i know others will be using i make sure to use one of the standard fonts that is on everyone's PCs around here.

the font on this form is Times New Roman...
