Hey Guys 2 questions i cannot seem to find out. It requires reboot, so do not want to reboot then find out its need, and have to re-enable and reboot again.

1.) Do you need to have the H.323 Remote Extension Enable if using 9611G VPN phone (in vpn mode)?

2.) Do you need to have the SIP Remote Extension Enable if using J179s and/or Avaya workplace via an ASBCE?

I went ahead and gave it a shot anyway, and the answer in my case was No to both. Since all our remote 9611G's are in VPN mode, and our Workplace/ J179s all register via an SBC - i did not need the Remote Extension Enable for either. Just trying to tighten up on any security we can.

The answer is no. You would need remote extension if there is NATing in place. In both cases VPN or SBC (B2BUA), the extensions will register as local IPs.
