Hi people,
I've started developing some web sites, for friends at the moment, and i was wondering if i need a license or anything else in order to start working as a company (just myself at the moment).

what country, and if the USA which state!!!

And this question has been posted on this forum many times, although not necessarily related to web sites.

I'm from Cyprus, EU.
I think is related to web design as well. I mean, i want to start designing web sites for others. Am i allowed to do so?

In most countries you don't need a license to design websites, but you'll need to check with a local lawyer.

In most countries you have to take some formal action to declare money earnt - check with your accountant for details, as he will be your first call for most business-related issues

As John says, check with your account as you'll almost definatly have to declare money earnt.

In terms of the Web Design licence i cant imagine you would need one. Maybe try and program to web standards. This at least should make your work more professional as your working to some standard. If your not sure check out http://www.w3schools.com/

A couple of things to make life easier are making sure you keep a copy of each site you do (on CD or other media). If all goes pear shaped and the data gets lost you have some sort of backup.

If you clients arn't exactly computer literate look for an ISP to host the sites and register the domain names, this is handy because if something goes wrong the client has one point of contact rather than not knowing where to turn (web designer, isp, it consultant etc).

Hope this helps.

I wish someone would just call me Sir, without adding 'Your making a scene'.
