I have a NT 4.0 PDC with NT 4.0 BDC's in my domain. Can I upgrade the PDC to Windows 2000 without implementing Active Directory? Thanks!!!!!

Yes, you can install Windows 2000 as a memberserver or standalone server.

I don't think you can have a Windows 2000 Domain Controller without Active Directory. Member server - definitely, but I think all Win2K DC's need Active Directory.

You DO need to have Active Directory implemented on the Domain Controller. The Active Directory Database replaces the SAM Database that is utilized within NT 4.0 for holding all user and group information.
