Hi all,

I'm in the process of sitting my last exam to meet the requirements for my MCSA. My question is this, once I complete my last exam at my local Prometric test centre, will I get my MCSA certificate automatically in the post or do I have to apply with evidence of my passes? I'm using my Network+ and A+ as electives.

Thanks for any pointers...

Callahan,

I'm sure it's in Microsoft's FAQ somewhere, but you'll need to log in to the MCP site ( and request a "Welcome Kit".

If you've already done this to get your MCP credentials, then it won't be so bad the second time around.

After you pass the last required test give them a day or two to process the results. When it shows up on your transscripts on the MS site, then request your welcome kit.

I am still waiting for my Comptia Security+ certificates and ID card... my MS ones came within 2 weeks :D

SimonDavies,

How long has it been since you passed the Security+?

In my experience, CompTIA has been pretty quick about sending these things. Microsoft too, with the exception of the first MCP Welcome Kit, which took roughly 10 weeks.

After the first one, Microsoft seems to be pretty good about it, but that first one...don't hold your breath.

Wish, it was about 3 months ago now. I managed to get all of my MS certificates within a couple of weeks. I even managed to get my MCSE:Security certificates which required Comptia to inform MS about my Sec+. Comptia have reissued the certificate but it still hasn't turned up (and I did check the address that they were sending to and it's the correct one).

SimonDavies,

That's somewhat unusual in my experience. CompTIA was right on the ball with the three certifications that I've gotten from them, but nobody's ever asked to see my CompTIA card. Or my MCSA card for that matter.
