Hey everyone. I've been doing some research on how to create a dynamic flash site which integrates a database. Ive been looking into the popular Flash MX and ColdFusion MX combination, however, my company isnt willing to fork out massive dough for the ColdFusion MX server. I was wondering if a comparable flash dyanamic application that uses a database could be built using open source free software, such as PHP and MySQL. Or do I have to purchase the ColdFusion MX server to get the full effect. Im a huge newbie at this, so any advice would be very helpful.

Thanks,
REI

You can use PHP and mySQL easily with Flash. Send out and receive information from Flash via loadVariables() or the LoadVars() object (in MX only).

Both "POST" and "GET" methods are supported. It works just like sending data from an HTML form - the server side script picks up the values and does the processing.

Hi wangbar. thanks for the response. could you point me to any tutorial that can help me get started on learning about flash mx and database interaction using php and mysql?

thanks,
