Do definitions come back when reinstalling Norton?

Recently I disabled my norton antivirus program so that I could install a new harddrive without problems. The new harddrive replaced the old one as the C: Drive, and all files were moved onto the new hard drive. I don't think that's the problem, but that's just for background info. For some reason I can't re-enable norton now. Norton firewall was re-enabled fine but norton anti-virus says that it has trouble starting up the integrator and symantec.com says to reinstall. Re-installing is simple, but I want to know if it will automatically bring back all my old definitions, or if they will just go away.

Usually the definitions in position after a reinstall are those that are on the CD rom.

You should be able to visit the Symantec site immediately after installation for a full Live Update (assuming your product is within its licence period).

Normally you are directed towards LiveUpdate during the install process.

Unfortunately I am not in the license period anymore. It expired about half a year ago. Would this mean that when I reinstall Norton it will be 1 1/2 years behind on definitions?
