do C compiler's have a life support like AIX ?

a bit of numpty question I know, but I've been asked and I don't know, even though I doubt it.

sure, until AIX exists !

Probably if you need a generic C compiler, it's easier use/find/buy... on Linux, Windows, DOS, ...

But if you have just an AIX (low probabile), or you need an executable for AIX, the problem is to choiche which AIX compiler use.

Yes, IBM does have "Marketing Withdrawn" dates in their Sales Manual for XL C compilers. Typically they "go away" as the AIX revisions go up, and the compiler is no longer supported. I have seen them age out when for example you upgrade from AIX 4 to 5, or 5 to 6, and have an older compiler on the prior system.

If you want a fee C compiler that check out the gnu version, which works just fine.
