Do AVAYA still produce Serenade 200 and 300 ?

I has got this question from both colleagues and customers.
The VMX-100 was phased out maybe 5 years ago, so the question is ->
Are the VOICE 200 and 300 a.k.a AVAYA OCTEL Serenade 200 and 300 still being produced ?

We are still maintaining 80-100 systems here i Denmark, Europe.

Most of these systems have been operating fault free for up to 13 years now.
Still we agree on that this product's stability and reliability (and MTBF) is the best ever seen by voice mail servers?

Title: Product Transition for OCTEL® 200 (SERENADE®) and OCTEL® 300 (SERENADE®) to Modular Messaging
Notification Date: June 30, 2005
Effective June 30, 2007, Avaya will no longer sell expansions or additions (for example, adding seats, features or ports for growth) to existing Octel 200 and Octel 300 (Serenade) systems. The end of sale date for new systems and software upgrades of Octel 200 and Octel 300 systems, announced in a separate letter, will take place on June 30, 2006. Octel 300 systems reached end of sale in 2003 for new and upgrade systems.
Avaya will provide manufacturer support for the maintenance of Octel 200 systems, subject to the terms and conditions of your maintenance contract and a specific system’s release status, through June 30, 2011. Avaya previously announced the end of manufacturer support on Octel 300 systems, which will occur on June 30, 2008. After these dates, Avaya may choose to provide some level of extended support, which will be evaluated based on future parts availability and other factors.

I wonder what would have happened if Octel was never sold out to MaBell?? What the product would have become, or who would have bought us if Lucent had not.

I still want to meet up with Bob Cohn someday, after I smack him I will ask him why? why he sold out his family and did he know how we were treated once we got there.

The product would have been developed further, replacing the quaint floppy with a CD, more integration with William Gates' product etc. In short, it would have continued to be a world beater. Simple, reliable, upgradable, expandable and more.

Just my words.
Then we would not have problems with PC's and Windows.
(and drivers for Dialogic boards for OneBox).
The dedicated hardware and software was clearly a benefit.
I agree in your opinion concerning the future developement.

If OCTEL was not sold to Lucent, Ericsson would have gone on selling OCTEL Serenade and the "best PBX + Voice mail": Ericsson MD100 and OCTEL 200/300 would have been a reality for a much longer period of time...
